Siham’s Story

Siham graduated from Cohort 4 of the GoodWork Programme. She secured an internship at Wild, one of our corporate partners, and has since been promoted to a Supply Chain Executive role. Siham is one of five young people from the GoodWork community who’ve been hired by Wild.

Can you tell us about your new role?

I work in operations, more specifically supply chain, where I manage inventory systems and liaise with suppliers. I initially joined on a one year internship in July 2025, working within a small team and taking on significant responsibility early on. I consistently met deadlines and made strong contributions, which led to the team being highly impressed with my performance. As a result, I was promoted to Supply Chain Executive just six months into the role.

How would you describe things right now?

Things are definitely busier now, and I’ve taken on more responsibility, which has been a great opportunity for growth. It’s a very fast-paced environment where priorities are constantly shifting. When I first started, I had little understanding of what supply chain involved, but I’ve learned the importance of embracing every opportunity and learning on the job. As long as you’re willing to learn, stay proactive, and maintain a positive, can do attitude, you’ll definitely excel in your role!

How would you describe your relationship with Team GoodWork?

One of the biggest things they offered was mentorship, and I knew GoodWork was there to support me with any issues I faced. The team has a warm, friendly energy and wants to see you do well. It was also through the GoodWork Programme that I secured my role at Wild. I can’t wait to see the team expand and change other young people’s lives.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Siham and fellow GoodWork alumni Fran, Angel and Jlyn, plus Micky and Sajni from Team GoodWork

Give yourself time. I remember Micky from Team GoodWork saying that it takes at least six months to get comfortable in a role, and to give yourself grace. It took me time to find my feet, and I now share this with new starters. You're not going to know everything in one day.

What skills from the programme do you find yourself using in your current role?

Communication stands out, not that I was bad at it before, but in a corporate environment you need to be concise because people don't have time for long-winded questions. The programme helped me learn how to communicate with different types of people and adapt to their needs.

What do you wish you had known before entering the corporate sector?

It's a difficult one because I'm still quite new to the corporate sector, but there are so many unspoken rules nobody talks about. Being a first-generation professional, it’s quite hard to grasp these things as nobody teaches you it, but it’s been a great learning experience. I'd also highlight the importance of networking - speaking to people from different teams helps with your visibility and getting yourself out there!

What are your key takeaways from your role so far?

My role is a great opportunity and valuable learning experience. It's very fast-paced as supply chain links with everything. I've developed my communication, teamwork skills and resilience, because it's a tough role and you have to keep going when there are setbacks. Working in operations, there will always be challenges, it’s all about being solutions oriented and calm - only then will you be able to reach a desirable outcome.

What was the most important part of the GoodWork programme for you?

Attending the events and visiting places like A&O and Expedia across different sectors gave me a real insight into working life. Being in those environments was a great eye-opener, because I'd never had that experience before. Mentorship has also really helped. I'm still in contact with my mentor (shoutout Mary). When I completed my A-levels, and missed my Dentistry offer I didn't have anyone to turn to for career advice. My school provided no assistance and as I didn’t attend university, I went two years without that kind of support, so having a mentor to guide me has been so comforting.

Can you share more about the GoodWork community?

It's been amazing from beginning to end. I love the cohort I was with; they were such a brilliant group of people and I wish them all the best with their journeys! I still speak to many of them to this day, which is another benefit to this programme. It was so great to see people with similar lived experiences. Coming into Wild, a company where I didn't know anyone, having people like Angel, Jlyn and Fran there meant I already had a support system - people who I’d already formed connections with, who I could talk to and see every day. It's been so nice to have that group support in place.

Siham’s manager, Felix Ajid, shared:
“Siham has been an invaluable member of the Supply Chain team since starting at Wild - she has had a huge hand in our Black Friday campaign, launch into Walmart and retail packaging rebrand. She has also received universal acclaim for her insightful communication internally between the many other teams at Wild, we all love working with her.”
