18 jobs secured, 165 applications, a Big Issue feature, and more! GoodWork’s Good News
Welcome to our first quarterly update, bringing you highlights, behind-the-scenes and all the latest on our work with young people and employers to create a fairer future of work.
Our work with young people
Since Christmas, 18 young people from the GoodWork community have secured roles aligned with their goals and aspirations. With youth unemployment in London at 24.6% - the highest anywhere in the UK - this is a massive achievement. We're so proud of our young people, volunteers and team for their hard work.
In January, we launched our third online programme (and biggest yet!) and they're already halfway through their GoodWork journey. And in March, we celebrated Cohort 5's graduation from the Core Programme.
We've also been out and about spreading the word about the GoodWork Programme. We received 165 applications for the next Core Programme and invited 31 young people to join us, with the programme launching next week. A huge thank you to the volunteers who supported us at assessment centres and helped us reach these numbers.
Our work with employers
We were hosted by our brilliant partners at Wild for a morning celebrating some of our amazing alumni. Wild has hired five young people from the GoodWork community so far, and it’s wonderful to see them thriving. Thanks to Zane Jawad and the team at Wild for organising.
Four young people from the GoodWork community recently completed Amazon's week-long Step Up Work Experience. Our partnership with Amazon through the Regional Creatives Fund made this possible, and we're excited about creating more opportunities like this later in the year. Thanks to team Amazon!
We also partnered with GuessWorks to host an employer breakfast roundtable on supporting early talent. Attendees joined from across media, charity, manufacturing, technology and infrastructure to share ideas and build connections.
